Cupping is an alternative therapy that has been used for thousands of years. In fact, ancient cultures – such as the Middle Eastern, Chinese and Egyptian cultures knew the powerful effects of this therapy.

Proudly, Marsha Halpert, L.Ac. of The AIMS Clinic provides Cupping Therapy to patients seeking pain relief, relaxation and well-being. This is achieved by placing specialized cups on the skin for a few minutes to create suction, which helps to mobilize blood flow in the body. Acupuncture and Cupping Treatment can be administered separately or combined, based upon the health and wellness needs of each patient.

cupping benefitsThere are two methods of Cupping – Wet Cupping and Dry Cupping. Wet Cupping increases blood and lymph flow to the skin and muscles by puncturing or scoring the surface of the tissue. This helps to drain stagnate deposits. Dry Cupping utilizes a warm cup over the skin. As the air in the cup cools, a suction effect is created. This is also referred to as Fire Cupping. New technology allows Dry Cupping to be done with a rubber pump to extract the air. Referred to as Vacuum Cupping, it produces a circular swelling of blood within the tissue, allowing fluid deposits to be flushed out by the body’s circulatory system. In general, cups are left in place for up to three minutes to produce desired results.

Cupping Therapy generates circular markings, indicating the level of toxicity and stagnation within the body. These markings will fade during the days to follow.
