Are you looking for Neck Pain Relief?
The compassionate and highly skilled doctors and therapists at the AIMS Clinic® offer a unique array of specialties to accurately diagnose and treat your chronic neck pain. This is accomplished by taking the time to really listen to each and every patient – to understand how the pain began and the affect it has on simple tasks, such as driving or more complex tasks that restrict work responsibilities or hobbies. Chronic neck pain can drain your energy and may even lead to depression. It is a common health concern, especially in people age 50 and older. We completely understand – patients share their stories and ultimately their success with us all the time.
Many people suffering with neck pain come to our 8,000 square foot center for neck pain treatment. Neck pain can occur from the bottom of your head to the top of your shoulders. To make matters worse, it can spread to your upper back and/or arms, especially if left untreated. Other than pain, additional symptoms may include stiffness or a knot in the neck, headaches, limited range-of-motion (neck), and numbness, tingling or weakness in the arm. If neck pain is chronic – fatigue, depression or anxiety may set in.
Our neck pain doctor can help to detect and correct the cause of pain. Perhaps it was caused by activities that place a strain on the neck – slouching on the couch, twisting the neck while sleeping, painting a ceiling, improper posture at the computer, etc. Other factors or causes may include an injury – whiplash, sports injury or fall from a ladder; infection in the neck, rheumatoid arthritis or cervical spinal stenosis, to name a few.
Using specialized training and techniques, extensive experience and diagnostic testing, our neck pain doctor can help to reduce and ultimately eliminate pain. The AIMS Clinic® diagnostic process always includes an in-depth consultation and family history to discuss the onset and intensity of pain, structural and muscular examination, x-rays and if necessitated, may include blood work, electromyography, nerve conduction studies, MRI or CAT scan.
Once testing and evaluations are completed and reviewed, a customized neck pain treatment program is created. Happily, almost all of our patients experience relief with chiropractic care, physical therapy and/or acupuncture, along with lifestyle (home and work) recommendations. For some patients, short-term medication management, injections of ligaments, muscles, bursae, joints and specialized injections – such as epidural injections or facet joint block injection may be recommended for neck pain relief.
Once treatment is completed, and patients can enjoy their life without chronic neck pain, recommendations are provided to prevent neck pain from returning. This includes:
- Maintain good posture – at work and at rest. Supports and pillows are available at the AIMS Clinic®.
- Keep your weight within a normal range. Need help? Speak with our Registered Dietitian.
- If you don’t smoke – don’t start. If you do smoke – quit! Smoking may cause spinal discs to degenerate. Our Licensed Acupuncturist can help with withdrawal symptoms.
- When sitting for an extended amount of time – use armrests to prevent arm muscles from becoming fatigued.
- Minimize stress to prevent tightening of the trapezius muscles, which can lead to neck and shoulder pain. Yoga often helps to reduce stress.
- Monthly maintenance care is recommended to nip neck pain in the bud.
